In addition to the Model T, in recent years, the 1932 Templeton School bus has also been in the parade. The bus was restored over a 5-year period thanks to hundreds of hours of the museum’s volunteers.
The bus was purchased new in 1933 by the Templeton School District and used as a bus until 1949. The bus body was removed and converted to a flatbed truck to haul irrigation pipe from the Stockdale ranch to the football field sometime after 1949.
The bus was eventually returned to the school auto shop where Roy Radke, Curt Olson, Gary Knoeppel rejoined body with the chassis. The bus was sold to a private party and was moved to a number of locations before finding a final home in the blacksmith’s shop and was donated to the museum with the purchase of the blacksmith’s shop.
Volunteers donated hundreds of hours of labor over 5 years to fully restore the bus.
The museum's booth in the park on July 4th provides an opportunity to purchase merchandise. |
